My teaching goals & ideas
What's next in my teaching journey?
Refine course structure & design
As I reflect upon my Fall 2023 teaching, I know my Forest Health class would benefit from a different structure. While I am not teaching the course again in 2024, I am connecting with other instructors who teach courses like this at other institutions. I want to know what they find effective, learn how they incorporate their expertise, and ensure that I am designing a course that helps students build their knowledge in a comparable way. If you teach Forest Health or a similar class, I would love to discuss teaching strategies with you!
Teach new levels of learners
Having most recently taught an upper-level class, I am looking to gain experience teaching introductory and grad-only courses. I am curious how different teaching and learning methods would benefit different levels of learners. To this end, I am looking for guest lecture opportunities for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. Outside of the college classroom, I have connected with two primary education teachers via Skype a Scientist.
Find my next home as an educator
I am actively seeking opportunities post-graduation (May 2025)! I am excited to find a position that allows me to continue teaching and research. As I search for jobs, I am reflecting upon myself as an educator and researcher, so as to identify institutions and departments where I can grow and contribute to a community of learning.
